Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh along with Ms. Nilambari Jagdale, IPS, SSP/UT, Chandigarh, DSP Sh. Yashpal Vinayak and Insp Ranjodh Singh, SHO/PS-36, rewarded driver Mohit Thakur No. DD-236 of CTU Depot No. 2. Mr. Mohit Thakur along with CTU Conductor Ravinder Singh rescued a girl from the clutches of accused auto driver who tried to rape the victim on 20.05.2018 at about 3.00 AM. The cash reward of Rs. 5,000/- with momento has been given for showing exemplary courage, saving victim girl and apprehending accused on the spot.
On night intervening 19/20.05.2018, Victim was going on foot from Sector 35, while she reached near South End Hotel, Chandigarh, an auto stopped and approached her. The driver of auto asked her to drop her at destination. On this, girl hired the auto. The driver drove his Auto towards slip road near Attawa Chowk and suddenly stopped the Auto in dark. Auto driver tried to rape the girl. The girl protested and started shouting loudly to save herself.
Meanwhile, listening to the shouting of girl, CTU bus driver and conductor stopped there and rescued the girl and nabbed auto driver on the spot. They informed the police. In this regard, a Case FIR No, 190 dated 20/5/18 U/S 354,376,511 IPC has been registered in PS-36, Chandigarh. The accused has been arrested and involved auto has also been taken into police possession. Investigation of case is in progress.
Driver Mohit Thakur and Conductor Ravinder Singh have shown exemplary courage, bravery, contributed while apprehending such dangerous criminal in the society. Chandigarh Police recognizes their efforts and as a token of appreciation, cash reward and momento was given to Mr. Mohit Thakur for his future encouragement. Due to unavailability of CTU conductor Ravinder No. 2048 on account of his personal reasons, he will be presented with momento; cash reward Rs. 5000 and Commendation Certificate during the coming monthly reward function of Chandigarh Police.
