HOMAGE PAID TO MAJOR SANDEEP SHANKLA, AC

          In a solemn wreath laying ceremony held at War Memorial, Sector 2, Panchkula, tributes were paid to Maj Sandeep Shankla, AC of 18 DOGRA Regiment, on his 26^th Martyrdom Day today.

Homage was also paid to Sepoy Swaran Singh, who also laid down his life on this day during a fierce counter terrorist operation.

          Lt Gen GS Dhillon,  Chief of Staff, HQ Western Command laid a wreath on behalf of GOC-in-C, Western Command. Veterans, serving Army Officers and civil dignitaries attended this ceremony and paid their homage to these valiant martyrs.

          A contingent from the DOGRA Regiment, presented a ceremonial Guard of Honour and a two minutes silence was observed as a mark of respect to the Martyrs. On this day in 1991, in a counter terrorist operation
Maj Sandeep Shankla, AC led his troops, which resulted in elimination of nine and arrest of 22 terrorists.
