Physical activity, healthy diet helps cardiovascular fitness

Chandigarh, Sept 28: Physical activity and healthy diet help to maintain cardiovascular fitness, said Dr Arvind Kaul, cardiologist at Alchemist Hospital while addressing employees at IT Park, Chandigarh during a health talk on the eve of World Heart Day today.

Dr. Kaul said that a heart attack occurs when the blood flow to a part of the heart is blocked by a blood clot. If this clot cuts off the blood flow completely, the part of the heart muscle supplied by that artery begins to die. Most people survive their first heart attack and return to their normal lives to enjoy many more years of productive activity. But having a heart attack does mean you have to make some changes.”

He said further that a common myth is that people relate heart attacks generally with chest pain. While it is common to have chest pain or discomfort but symptoms of a heart attack could also cause shortness of breath, nausea and pain in the jaw, neck or back.
