Special drive against consuming liquor at public place was carried out at different parts of the city in which total 31 cases U/S 68-1 (B) Punjab Police Act 2007 & 510 IPC got registered.
In continuation of a special drive against consuming liquor at public place, yesterday, the drive was carried out at different parts of the city. Under this drive total 31 different cases U/S 68-1(B) Punjab Police Act 2007 & 510 IPC got registered in different police stations of Chandigarh in which total 31 persons were arrested while consuming liquor at public place. All later on bailed out. The detail of police Stations in which cases U/S 68-1 (B) Punjab Police Act 2007 & 510 got registered:- PS-11 = 3 cases, PS-17 = 3 cases, PS-19 = 3 cases, PS-26 = 5 cases, PS-IA = 1 case, PS-MM = 3 cases, PS-IT Park = 4 cases, PS-MJ = 3 cases, PS-49 = 3 cases, PS-36 = 2 cases, PS-39 = 1 case.
This drive will be continuing in future, the general public is requested for not breaking the law.
4 boxes of illicit liquor recovered
Chandigarh Police arrested Jaswinder Singh R/o Village Nawa Shehar, Batala, Kharar, Distt. Mohali (PB) who was arrested while carrying 4 boxes of liquor at dividing road, Sector 52/53 near Garden of Spring, Sector 53, Chandigarh. A case FIR No. 224, U/S 61-1-14 Excise Act has been registered in PS-36 Chandigarh. Later he bailed out. Investigation of the case is in progress.
One arrested under NDPS Act
Crime Branch of Chandigarh Police arrested a lady resident of Daddu Majra, Chandigarh near Govt. School, Sector-38W, Chandigarh and recovered 600 gram Ganja from her possession. A case FIR No. 136, U/S 20 NDPS Act has been registered in PS-Maloya, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Chandigarh Police arrested Amit R/o # 576, Ph-1, BDC, Sector-26, Chandigarh, while he was playing satta near Masjid, Ph-2, BDC, Sector-26, Chandigarh and recovered cash Rs. 660/- from his possession. A case FIR No. 183, U/S 13A-3-67 Gambling Act has been registered in PS-26, Chandigarh. Later he bailed out. Investigation of the case is in progress.
Chandigarh Police arrested Surinder R/o # 2437, Mauli Jagran Complex, Chandigarh, Joginder R/o # 3744, Mauli Jagran Complex, Chandigarh, Rajesh R/o # 3129, Mauli Jagran Complex, Chandigarh while they were gambling near Prachin Shiv Mandir, Mauli Jagran Complex, Chandigarh and recovered cash Rs. 600/- from their possession. A case FIR No. 159, U/S 13-3-67 Gambling Act has been registered in PS-Mauli Jagran, Chandigarh. All later on bailed out. Investigation of the case is in progress.
Chandigarh Police arrested Ashok Kumar R/o # 1036, Ph-1, Ram Darbar and Kamal R/o # 989, Ph-1, Ram Darbar, Chandigarh while they were gambling near Cactus Park, Ph-2, Ram Darbar, Chandigarh and recovered cash Rs. 510/- from their possession. A case FIR No. 254, U/S 13-3-67 Gambling Act has been registered in PS-31, Chandigarh. Both later on bailed out. Investigation of the case is in progress.

A lady resident of Pushpak Society, Sector-49, Chandigarh alleged that unknown persons ran away after snatching purse containing mobile phone and cash Rs. 630/- at backside Petrol Pump, Sector 49, Chandigarh. A case FIR No. 108, U/S 356, 379 added 411 IPC has been registered in PS-49, Chandigarh. Later one person namely Santosh R/o # 69C, Jagatpura Distt. Mohali (PB) has been arrested in this case.
