The pain of Partition should be felt by all 1.4 billion Indians-Vij

Haryana’s Energy, Transport & Labour Minister Anil Vij said that the pain of Partition should not be felt only by the affected families and individuals, but by all 1.4 billion people of the country, because India’s partition was carried out on the basis of religion.

Vij was responding to questions asked by the media regarding how Partition took place on this day and how many families still bear its wounds.

The minister said the pain of Partition should be felt not only by the millions who were displaced and the families of the 1 million people killed at that time, but by every citizen of India. “India was partitioned  and partitioned on religious lines. Hindus and Muslims were separated. Yet today, Congress leaders saying that they are a secular party, he said.”

Questioning Congress, Vij asked that “Where was your secularism when your party signed the Partition document? Why did Congress leaders not protest then, saying we will not let Mother India be divided? Even if it meant fighting another freedom struggle, the fight should have been to remain united. But instead, Congress broke Mother India into pieces – something for which they can never be forgiven, he added.”

On the matter of Rahul Gandhi’s lawyer telling the court that Gandhi’s life is under threat, Vij said that “Rahul Gandhi says he is under threat, but as far as I know, he probably already has Z+ security. Yet he is asking for more security? This raises a question – is Rahul Gandhi lying, or is his lawyer lying?”
