
Rajya Sabha MP Rajinder Gupta thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Government for inaugurating the International Airport at Halwara, calling it a long-awaited project that will significantly benefit Punjab’s industrial and economic landscape.
Rajya Sabha MP and Trident Group Chairman Emeritus Padma Shri Rajinder Gupta extended special thanks to the Central Government for the landmark development. He said the new civil terminal at Halwara, Ludhiana, will provide fresh momentum to the economy of the Malwa region.
Developed jointly by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Government of Punjab at a cost of ₹54.67 crore, the terminal covers an area of 2,000 square meters. It has the capacity to handle 300 passengers during peak hours and up to two lakh passengers annually. The facility is expected to significantly benefit the industrial, healthcare, and education sectors, while also improving regional connectivity.
On the auspicious occasion of the 649th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji, the Central Government renamed Adampur Airport in Jalandhar as ‘Sri Guru Ravidas Ji Airport, Adampur’. The formal inauguration was carried out by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on the occasion of the inauguration of the terminal building at Halwara International Airport in Ludhiana reiterated his demand to the Government of India to name the airport after the great martyr Kartar Singh Sarabha. He said that such a step would be a true tribute to one of the youngest heroes of India’s freedom struggle. Also Present on the occasion was Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu.
The development is being seen as a major step towards strengthening Punjab’s aviation infrastructure and overall socio-economic growth.
