Obesity Awareness Program in Panchkula today
Under ‘Obesity Awareness Program, an obesity support group program involving a health seminar and a free check-up camp on weight loss surgery is being organized at Alchemist Hospital tomorrow. During camp , the free consultation will be provided by Dr. Atul Krishan Sharma, senior consultant, GI Surgery and Dr. Pooja Gupta, senior dietician. Giving information about program , Dr. Atul Krishan Sharma said that the program is being organized with an aim of educating people about the problems and high cost of obesity to their lives.He said that obesity can severely affect the quality of one’s life. He added that Bariatric Surgery has been able to transform the lives of many obese people and has improved their quality of life. Bariatric surgery is the only treatment modality that is allowed for treating severe obesity that has very high long-term success and acceptance. In addition, bariatric surgery resolves diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnea, high-cholesterol and other co-existing obesity related diseases in most severely obese people undergoing it, he asserted. International reports also says that after bariatric surgery the type-2 diabetes is also controlled and cured if a person is morbidly obese and is suffering from diabetes, Dr Atul maintained.During occasion, the successful stories to reduce weight shall also be shared by those who have loose large amounts of weight successfully and safely after bariatric surgery. Meanwhile Dr. Pooja Gupta will also give diet tips to reduce weight.
