BRICS Chandigarh Executive Director Deepak Shukla Urges PM Modi to Push for Peace, Says Punjab Trade Hit by Ongoing Conflict Chandigarh, June 12: Deepak Shukla, Executive Director of the Chandigarh chapter of the BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BRICS CCI), has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to use India’s diplomatic influence to support efforts aimed at ending the ongoing war and restoring stability in the region. Shukla is associated with the Chandigarh chapter of BRICS CCI and has previously advocated for greater international investment and industrial growth in Punjab. In his letter, Shukla expressed concern over the adverse impact of global conflicts on international trade, supply chains, logistics, and business sentiment. He stated that Punjab, being a key agricultural and industrial state with strong export linkages, has been particularly affected by disruptions in global markets. “Wars and prolonged conflicts create uncertainty for businesses, increase transportation costs, disrupt supply chains and negatively affect exports. Punjab’s traders, exporters and industrialists are facing challenges due to the prevailing global situation,” Shukla said. He appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to continue playing a constructive role on the international stage and encourage dialogue, peace and diplomatic solutions. According to Shukla, India’s growing global stature places it in a unique position to advocate for stability and economic cooperation among nations. The BRICS Chandigarh Executive Director further noted that sustained peace is essential for economic growth, investor confidence and the welfare of millions dependent on trade and industry. He emphasized that an end to hostilities would benefit not only the countries directly involved but also economies across the world, including India. Shukla expressed confidence that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India would continue to support initiatives that promote peace, stability and global economic progress.
