The Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore today unveiled the “NAV SWAR RAGINI”, a String instrument created by eminent virtuoso Sh. Subhash Ghosh at Govt. Museum and Art Gallery, Sector-10, Chandigarh. Sh. Subash Ghosh is a foremost disciple of Padma Vibhushan Ustad Amjad Ali Khan Sahib, who has performed extensively in India and abroad . He had earlier invented two musical instruments including Sarasvani and Swar Ragini.
Maestro Subash Gosh has shaped ‘NAV SWAR RAGINI’ in collaboration with the Legendary Music Crafts master, Sh. Bhav Sindhu Biswas of Kolkata. Carved out of peculiar Toon wood and evolved onto the South Indian Saraswati Veena, Shilpa Guru Sindhu has given ‘NAV SWAR RAGINI’ an enticing look.
It is from the hallowed lanes of B B Ghosh Sarani that many legendary players like Brij Bhushan Kabra, PAndit Vishwa Mohan have received their revered instruments. Sindhu is the third generation craftsman on Ghosh Sarani.
A musician becomes a Maestro when he ventures beyond the normal. Evolving a new instrument, therefore, is the pinnacle of adding new skills and a new school of music. Sh. Subhash Gosh’s ‘NAV SWAR RAGINI’ is his 3rd find with many more to follow. He dedicated the creation to his Guru, Padma Vibhushan Ustad Amjad Ali Khan Sahib.
