Chandigarh, Chandigarh concluded their Col CK Nayudu campaign with a commanding six-wicket victory over Uttarakhand at the Cricket Stadium, Sector-16 on Monday.
After posting a mammoth 609 in their first innings, Chandigarh tightened their grip on the contest with disciplined bowling. Uttarakhand, in reply, were bundled out for 334 in their first innings and despite showing resistance in the second innings, were restricted to 363.
The turning point of the match came through the sharp and relentless bowling display led by Nishunk Birla (4/100) who claimed four crucial wickets and Jaskirat Singh Mehra (3/77) who chipped in with three wickets. Uttarakhand’s second innings saw notable contributions from Ishagra Jagoori (98) and Harsh Rana (74) but the duo of Birla and Mehra maintained their pressure. Uttarakhand were wrapped up for 363 in 110.2 overs, setting Chandigarh a manageable target of 88 runs
Chasing the target in the fourth innings, Chandigarh displayed composure to reach 90/4 in 26 overs and secure the win by six wickets. Birla took eight while Mehra clinched six wickets in total during the match. Meanwhile Dipinder Kush scored 230 runs.
