
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini paid rich tributes to the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, at a function organized at the Haryana Civil Secretariat to mark National Unity Day. In his address, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that Sardar Patel was a true symbol of national unity and the architect of a united India. As the first Home Minister of independent India, Sardar Patel strengthened the nation’s foundations through his exceptional administrative abilities. At the time of independence, the country was divided into numerous princely states and royal territories, but Sardar Patel succeeded in integrating 562 princely states into the Indian Union, thereby laying the groundwork for a united and strong nation.
The Chief Minister further said that India is now on the path to becoming a global superpower, a vision whose foundation was laid by Sardar Patel. He added that Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi has realized Patel’s dream of complete national integration by abrogating Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. The construction of the Statue of Unity in Gujarat’s Narmada district, he said, has immortalized Sardar Patel’s legacy for future generations.
Emphasizing the importance of the day, the Chief Minister urged everyone to draw inspiration from Sardar Patel’s life and remain committed to the unity, integrity, and security of the country. He said that National Unity Day is not only a tribute to a great leader but also an occasion to reaffirm our collective resolve to build a strong and united India. The Chief Minister extended his greetings on National Unity Day to all officers and employees and administered the oath of dedication to the nation’s unity and integrity.
Speaking at the event, Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi also paid homage to Sardar Patel, describing him as the unparalleled architect of India’s national unity. He said that through his sharp intellect and strong determination, Sardar Patel achieved the extraordinary feat of integrating 562 princely states under challenging circumstances — an accomplishment rarely seen in world history, particularly without bloodshed. He said that Sardar Patel’s life exemplified sacrifice, dedication, and determination. Patel envisioned an India where the administrative system was founded on discipline, integrity, and service. He described the concept of the Indian Administrative Service as a fundamental pillar of nation-building.
Welcoming the Chief Minister, Dr. Amit Agrawal, Commissioner and Secretary of the Department of Information, Public Relations, Language, and Culture, said that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel played a pivotal role in establishing the administrative foundation of independent India. By politically unifying the princely states, he built a strong central administration. Under his visionary leadership, the All India Services including the Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Police Service became the backbone of governance and law enforcement, ensuring stability and good governance. His efforts, he said, helped India emerge as a strong, organized, and administratively capable nation.
Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Dr. Sumita Misra, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Arun Kumar Gupta, Director General of Police O.P. Singh, Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. Saket Kumar, along with several senior officers and employees were also present on this occasion.
ECI reviews Inter-State border preparedness; Directs strict vigil to ensure peaceful, inducement-free Bihar Assembly Elections 2025
Haryana Chief Electoral Officer, A. Sreenivas said that the Election Commission of India (ECI) recently held a coordination meeting on interstate border issues in Bihar with Chief Secretaries, DGPs and Principal Secretaries (Home) of Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, along with officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Railways and all enforcement agencies.
He said that the entire ECI reviewed law-and-order arrangements in Bihar and its neighbouring States to monitor movement of men, material and money including arms, anti-social elements, liquor, narcotics and freebies inter-State and across the international border with Nepal for the upcoming Assembly election in the state.
During the meeting, CEC, Sh. Gyanesh Kumar underscored the Commission’s commitment to free, fair, peaceful and inducement-free elections, calling upon all stakeholders to work seamlessly to uphold the integrity of the electoral process. The Commission also reviewed compliance with voter-facilitation directions to ensure a pleasant and smooth experience for voters on the day of poll. The Chief Secretaries and DGP, along with heads of Central Agencies, were directed to ensure a peaceful and inducement-free General Election to the Legislative Assembly of Bihar, 2025, he added.
A. Sreenivas said that the Chief Secretaries and Directors General of Police of Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, and the DG of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), were directed to ensure heightened vigilance in areas bordering Bihar, with enhanced checks at interState posts.
He further said that central agencies including the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Income Tax Department, Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) were directed to intensify efforts in the run-up to the polls and maximise seizures acting upon actionable intelligence.

The State level National Unity Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Fatehabad on Friday to mark the birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The ‘Run for Unity’ event, organized at the district headquarters, was flagged off by Haryana Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini from the Panchayat Bhawan. On this occasion, the Chief Minister showered flowers on the participants and personally joined the run, spreading the message of national unity.
Approximately 30,000 participants took part in the event held at the MM College ground. Youth, women, athletes, students, social workers, and public representatives participated with great zeal, proudly carrying the tricolour in their hands. The entire city echoed with patriotic slogans of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat”. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also administered the oath against drug abuse.

The Chief Minister said that the Run for Unity was not merely a physical activity but a symbol of national unity, integrity, and discipline. Millions of citizens across all districts of Haryana are taking part in this national pledge, contributing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat. He said that a strong nation is built by disciplined, responsible, and aware citizens. This run inspires us with the values of tolerance, discipline, and collective strength, he added.
Referring to the historic decision to abrogate Articles 370 and 35A from Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi has further strengthened the unity and integrity of India, fulfilling a vision once initiated by Sardar Patel. He described the move as a landmark step in realizing Sardar Patel’s dream of ‘Akhand Bharat’ and ‘One Nation, One Constitution, One Tricolour.’

Addressing the youth, he urged them to carry forward the torch of national unity and integrity.
