CSIR – Central Leather Research institute (CLRI) Regional Centre, Jalandhar has celebrated its 78th foundation day. Students and faculty from School of Eminence Bhargo Camp Jalandhar, and, Tanners and technical staff from leather Industry have actively participated in this event.
The Chief guest, Amandeep Singh Sandhu, President, Punjab Leather Federation (PLF) has delivered presidential address with a strong focus on leather industry and its contribution in our country’s economy. Dr. S.V. Srinivasan, Scientist In-Charge (SIC), provided an overview of CSIR-CLRI’s mandate and briefed potential opportunities for students in research fields in CSIR. Dr. P. Sudhakara, Principal Scientist, has made a detailed presentation on the standard protocols required for testing of leather and leather products. Dr. Mozhiarasi V, Scientist and Arulmani, Sr. Technical Officer, carried out a presentation and group tasks on “leather and its waste
management, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”.
Other technical colleagues Rajnish Kumar, Ashima Pal and Ajeet Kumar have then demonstrated the Centre’s facilities with highlights on physical and chemical testing of leather, followed by a display of various leather and leather products. The event was successfully concluded with a plantation and, overall, the students and other participants have expressed their overwhelmingly positive feedback.
