Departments Directed to Work in Coordination to Achieve ‘Viksit Bharat-2047’ Targets

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that Haryana will achieve the targets of ‘Viksit Bharat-2047’ ahead of time. For this, coordinated efforts of all departments are essential. Reviewing the five-year implementation roadmap and action plan prepared by the Health Department on Thursday, the Chief Minister said that departments should take assistance from world-class professional teams that can help in implementing schemes with the support of modern technologies on the lines of developed countries and states so that targets can be achieved at a rapid pace. He said that the government’s objective is to ensure access to excellent, affordable and safe healthcare services for every person.

*Centralized Control Room to be Set Up*

The Chief Minister said that there is a need to reduce infant and maternal mortality rates in the state to record low levels. For this, a centralized control room should be established which functions round the clock on the lines of a war room. From there, daily monitoring of the health of infants and pregnant women across the state can be carried out and any lapse can be prevented. He directed officials to prepare a detailed action plan regarding children’s health.

*Complete Online Record of Medicines*

The Chief Minister said that it is necessary for hospitals to maintain complete online records of medicines. Once a doctor prescribes medicine, the record should be updated immediately so that there is no shortage of medicines in hospitals. He said the purchase of 70 ambulances has already been approved to strengthen health facilities. The department will also be provided all other necessary equipment and facilities as required, but there should be no inconvenience to the people in receiving healthcare services.

*Health Check-up of Students in Private Schools to be Ensured*

Nayab Singh Saini said that till now, the Health Department has been conducting health check-ups only in government schools and Anganwadi centres, but in future, health check-ups of all children studying in private schools should also be ensured. Along with providing medicines as required, children should also be made aware about healthy living.

*Day-Care Cancer Centres Providing Free Chemotherapy to Cancer Patients*

Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, Dr. Sumita Misra informed that free chemotherapy is being provided through Day-Care Cancer Centres to cancer patients referred by medical colleges. This has greatly benefited cancer patients. The Chief Minister said that mammography machines should be installed in every district for cancer screening.

*Every Ward and Village to Become TB-Free by 2030*

To achieve the target of making every ward and village in the state TB-free by 2030, the Chief Minister said that no TB patient should remain untraced and all patients should receive proper treatment so that the disease does not spread further. He said that technology should be used for early detection of the disease and large-scale screening should be conducted. Effective steps should also be taken towards ensuring balanced nutrition, mental health support and prevention of substance abuse among patients.

*Other Departments Should Also Play a Role in Achieving Targets*

The Chief Minister said that the AYUSH Department can also play an important role in achieving the state’s health goals. He said that the AYUSH Department should focus less on medicines and more on awareness for disease prevention. Similarly, officials of the Medical Education and Research Department were directed to explore possibilities of operating medical colleges in PPP mode and study the models adopted by other states in this regard. He also directed that a plan should be prepared to rate all government hospitals and medical colleges in the state so that shortcomings can be identified and addressed. Likewise, officials were directed to upgrade trauma centres in the state to Level-1 and Level-2 standards.

The Chief Minister said that instead of focusing only on treatment of diseases, the Health Department should now prepare an effective roadmap for disease prevention so that people do not fall ill in the first place. For this, the Health Department, AYUSH Department, Medical Education and Research Department, Food and Drug Administration and other related departments should work in coordination to achieve the goals of Viksit Bharat-2047 ahead of schedule.

*Plantation Drive in All Health Institutions*

The Chief Minister said that extensive plantation drives should also be carried out in all hospitals, health institutions and medical college campuses across the state. More and more spaces should be identified for plantation under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign along with installation of tree guards.

Yashpal, Health Secretary R.S. Dhillon, along with other officials.
