Dhanda’s five-wicket haul wraps up U-23 early as Seniors take 113-run lead  

Chandigarh, Ahead of the remaining Ranji Trophy fixtures, the Chandigarh Senior Men’s team is playing a multi-day practice match against the Chandigarh Under-23 side at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium as part of their red-ball preparation.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, the Chandigarh U-23 team found the going tough against a disciplined Senior Men bowling attack. Rohit Dhanda set the tone early, dismantling the top order with pace and accuracy to finish with impressive figures of 5 for 16 in six overs. Supported well by Nishunk Birla (3/5), the Under-23 side was bowled out for 76 in 25.4 overs.

In reply, the Senior Men asserted their dominance with a solid batting performance by ending Day 1 at 189 for 8 in 42.4 overs. Team secured a lead of 113 runs at stumps. Skipper Manan Vohra anchored the innings with a composed knock of 80 runs while Shivam Bhambri added 42.

Jaskirat Singh Mehra and Raghav Verma impressed with two wickets each.

According to Saraansh Tandon, President, UT Cricket Association, The multi-day match is part of a structured preparation plan which is aimed at giving the senior squad quality match practice ahead of crucial Ranji Trophy encounters.
