Governor lays foundation stone for Ayurvedic Specialty Hospital, MP Rajya Sabha presides over Convocation at Dhanwantry College’s Golden Jubilee
Chandigarh, In a momentous celebration marking the Golden Jubilee year of Shri Dhanwantry Ayurvedic College and Hospital (SDACH), Sector 46, His Excellency, Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Administration laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art 250-bedded Ayurvedic Super Specialty Hospital within the college campus. Earlier this year, the college received an approved grant of approximately ₹10 crore from the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. This grant, sanctioned under the Centre of Excellence (COE) is being utilized for the construction of the new facility, which is envisioned as a Centre of Excellence for Ayurvedic Management and Care of Chronic Spine Disorders.
On this momentous occasion, several vital public healthcare initiatives were also dedicated to the community, including the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to enhance neonatal health services, the Free Delivery Program (Normal and Caesarean) to ensure accessible and safe childbirth, the Free Anti-Rabies Vaccination Program to prevent rabies through timely immunization and the Geriatric Care Program for Senior Citizens aimed at providing comprehensive and compassionate care for the elderly.
In his address, His Excellency said, The hospital’s newly launched initiatives demonstrate a deep commitment to public health by providing comprehensive care for everyone from newborns to senior citizens. By seamlessly integrating age-old Ayurvedic wisdom with modern medical practices, this institution marks a significant leap toward establishing Chandigarh as a prominent hub for Ayurvedic excellence. He emphasized the importance of international collaboration stating that such partnerships are crucial for taking Ayurveda to a global stage. By working with foreign institutions, researchers and practitioners, Ayurveda can gain wider recognition, enhance its credibility and integrate more effectively with modern healthcare systems worldwide.
Those who present on the occasion includes Dr Koustubh Upadhyaya, Advisor (Ayurveda), Ministry of Ayush, Govt of India, the management of Shri Dhanwantry Educational Society – President KK Gupta, Dr Naresh Mittal, General Secretary, Chairman and Mayor, Panchkula Kulbhushan Goyal, Finance Secretary Bhupinder Goel, College’s Principal Sumit Srivastava and others.
A convocation ceremony was held later in the day wherein 135 students were conferred their degrees. The event was graced by Satnam Singh Sandhu, MP, Rajya Sabha and Chancellor of Chandigarh University who delivered an inspiring address to the graduating students. Sandhu urged, “Education unlocks endless possibilities. True success lies not just in acquiring knowledge, but in applying it to serve humanity. In Ayurveda and holistic health, your learning has the power to heal and transform lives.”
The ceremony also saw the distinguished presence of several eminent personalities as Guests of Honor. Vaidya Rakesh Sharma, President of the Board of Ethics and Registration, NCISM, New Delhi, Vaidya K.S. Dhiman, Vice Chancellor of Shri Krishna AYUSH University, Kurukshetra and Dr. Sanjeev Sood, Vice Chancellor of Guru Ravidas Ayurved University, Hoshiarpur shared their valuable insights and motivated the students to excel in their respective fields.
As part of the same celebrations, the college is hosting a two day long symposium on the scientific sessions highlighting Integrative Diagnostics, Pharmacognosy & natural products, Diet Nutrition and public health and other related subjects.
