Haryana Govt,(ULB)&health dept are ensuring to provide essential services to citizens, In this hour of crisis, the Haryana Government along with the department of Urban Local Bodies (ULB) and Health Department are ensuring to provide essential services to the citizens in all the 87 Municipalities of the State during the lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic. The average daily collection of Bio-Hazardous waste is 800-1000 kg for the State and about 893 Kg of Bio-Hazardous waste has been collected on April 30, 2020.
All 87 Municipalities having 10 Municipal Corporations, 19 Municipal Councils and 58 Municipal Committees are tirelessly working to ensure cleanliness of the State by cleaning and disposing off the municipal waste with total no. of 22440 safai karamcharis in all the ULBs. About 90-100% Solid Municipal Waste is being collected and disposed off regularly as informed by the Director General, Urban Local Bodies, Mr. Amit Kumar Agrawal.
The ULBs have deployed mechanical sweeping machines for cleaning of main roads and approximately 499 kms of roads on per day basis are being swept and cleaned regularly. Disinfecting activities are being done on war footing level which include disinfecting all public places such as Bus Stands, Railway Stations, Markets, Government Offices, Malls, Colonies and Public & Community Toilets etc. About 1,879 public places and 1,333 Public Toilets or Community Toilets are being disinfected regularly.
All the municipalities are ensuring 100 percent door-to-door lifting of waste and the staff involved in this activity has been instructed to follow social distancing strictly. The average daily collection of 800-1000kg PPE (gloves, masks etc.) of Bio-Hazardous waste is being collected from individual households, offices, quarantine households etc. across all districts of the State and handed over to concerned agency in coordination with Health Department for its safe and scientific disposal. It has been reported by certain municipalities that people have partially started using homemade masks (washable/reusable).

The ULBs are assisting District Administration for taking required steps during this period of lockdown by delivering essential commodities including vegetables to the doorsteps of citizens for maintaining social distancing. Full support is being extended to the District Administration for providing or serving food (dry or cooked) to daily wagers or unregistered migrant labourers, stranded people, homeless or vagabonds etc. About 1,30,18,307 food packets have been distributed and 6,70,163 families have been given dry ration till date.
