
The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) organised Convocation for members from its Northern India Regional Council on 9 June 2026, in Amritsar, Punjab, for around 657 Associate Company Secretaries (ACS) and 50 Fellow Company Secretaries (FCS).
Congratulating the newly inducted members, CS Pawan G Chandak, President, the ICSI, said, “Embrace opportunities and understand your responsibility towards the profession and the ICSI. You should strive to become an exemplary professional, doing your best every day.”
In his address, CS Pawan G. Chandak, President, ICSI, underscored the Institute’s commitment to strengthening professional excellence and expanding opportunities for its members.
He highlighted the ICSI courses on the Regulatory Framework for Fund Management in IFSC: AIFs and Retail Scheme and the Regulatory Framework for Capital Market Intermediaries in IFSC, specified by IFSCA for KMPs and employees of entities regulated by the Authority. He also referred to the two-year full-time MBA in Maritime Regulations and Compliance Management, offered in collaboration with Gujarat Maritime University, as well as the Certificate Course on Corporate and Securities Markets Compliances (CSMC), a one-year full-time residential programme at the NISM campus, and the ICSI Certificate Course on UAE Business Manager, designed to equip professionals with specialised knowledge and global competencies.
The event also highlighted several initiatives undertaken by ICSI to advance sustainable and responsible governance practices. These included the ICSI Guiding Principles on Stewardship (IGPS), which outline best practices for responsible investment and stewardship; the ICSI Principles on Climate Change Governance (IPCG), which provide guidance on sustainability performance metrics and climate-related targets; and the ICSI Stakeholder Engagement Toolkit on ESG, developed to assist Company Secretaries and Boards in formulating comprehensive ESG strategies and policies.
The recent Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Association for Gold Excellence and Standards (IAGES) was also highlighted, that intends to create new opportunities for PCS firms and would position them as key facilitators in the implementation of IAGES accreditation standards.
Also present on the occasion were CS Dhananjay Shukla, Immediate Former President, ICSI; CS Manish Gupta, Former President, ICSI; CS Manoj Kumar Purbey, Council Member, ICSI; CS Suresh Pandey, Council Member, ICSI; and CS Santosh Pandey, Chairman, Northern India Regional Council (NIRC) of ICSI.
