A significant meeting was held between the core executive members of the Class IV Employees Union (Regd.), Education Department, Chandigarh, led by Union President Annu Kumar, and Rajya Sabha MP Satnam Singh Sandhu. The primary aim of the meeting was to present the long-pending issues and demands of Group D employees working on direct DC rates, outsourced staff, and Mid-Day Meal workers.
The union emphasized two major demands during the meeting. The first was that employees working under direct DC rate and outsourcing arrangements should be paid salaries based on Basic + DA to ensure minimum economic security and a dignified standard of living. The second demand was related to Mid-Day Meal workers, for whom the union requested that their duty hours be fixed at four hours and they be paid half salary as per DC rates.
Rajya Sabha MP Satnam Singh Sandhu listened to all the demands and concerns of the union with seriousness and assured that he would raise these issues on a priority basis and ensure a prompt resolution. He also affirmed his commitment to stand by the union in safeguarding the rights and welfare of the employees.
The union expressed gratitude for the MP’s sensitivity and positive attitude. On this occasion, Union President Annu Kumar said, “We are thankful to MP Satnam Singh Sandhu for taking our demands seriously. We are confident that his efforts will soon bring much-needed relief to the employees.”
