The Sudhir Reema Dewan Foundation (SRDF) hosted its second charity fundraiser at Tagore Theatre, featuring a captivating performance by the iconic rock band Indian Ocean. Indian Ocean, a pioneering Indian fusion band is known for blending rock with Indian classical, folk, and jazz influences.
The foundation’s journey is rooted in a deeply personal legacy—Sudhir Dewan, a liver transplant recipient, who devoted 17 years to helping over 250 individuals receive a second chance at life. Inspired by his commitment, SRDF was established in collaboration with the MOHAN Foundation, under the leadership of Reema Dewan and Divya Dewan Mehta to carry forward his mission.
In its inaugural year, SRDF has made significant strides:
Through its initiatives, SRDF continues to foster a culture of awareness and action, encouraging communities to think about the need of the hour and support life-saving initiatives such as organ donation.
The Managing Trustee, Ms Reema Dewan, reiterated that Indian Ocean’s concert was music with purpose – a growing movement dedicated to improving and saving the lives of lesser privileged segments of society. On any given day, 49 people in India lose their lives awaiting an organ, while a patient needing an organ is added every 10 minutes to the waiting list.
We extend heartfelt gratitude to every volunteer, supporter and donor of SRDF. Our joint endeavour may be only a drop in the ocean, but as Mother Teresa said, “…the ocean would be less because of the missing drop.”
