Chandigarh, A brilliant century from skipper Ankit Kaushik powered Leisure Zone to a thrilling three-wicket victory over Rock Zone at the ongoing UTCA One-Day match held at SSCA Cricket Academy, Kandla on Friday.
Earlier, Rock Zone after winning the toss opted to bat first. Openers Ramanjeet Singh (100) and captain Arijit Singh (104) stitched together a 192-run partnership to lay a solid foundation for their side. Rock Zone posted a competitive total of 281/4 in their allotted 50 overs. Chiraz Singh (2/55) was the pick of the bowlers for Leisure Zone.
In reply, Hartejassvi Kapoor (4/56) rocked the Leisure Zone top order and reduce them to 127/5. However, Ankit Kaushik led a remarkable recovery to score a match-defining 125 that included six boundaries and six sixes. He guided the team to 239/7 before his dismissal. Later, unbeaten Saksham Singh Salaria (42) held his nerve to finish the chase with an unbeaten knock and sealed the win with four balls to spare.
