Mayor launches Inaugural Box Cricket Tournament

The first-ever Box Cricket Tournament organized by Chandigarh Club in collaboration with Dinbhar Events commenced with a ceremonial launch  by Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla who attended as the chief guest and unveiled the T-shirt alongside Dinbhar Events MD, Kashish Mahajan.

Captains of several participating teams joined the launch reflecting the city’s growing enthusiasm for this unique sporting event. Teams from the RWAs, youth clubs, business guilds and Market Associations are taking part in this two day event.

Praising the initiative, Mayor Babla said, “This is Chandigarh’s first box cricket tournament is an excellent step by Chandigarh Club. The overwhelming response indicates the city’s readiness for such events, and we look forward to scaling it up in the coming years.”

Emphasizing the event’s broader impact, she added, “Such tournaments not only promote physical activity but also send a powerful social message by encouraging youth to stay away from substance abuse and connect with sports.”

The tournament will feature nearly 50 matches as the champion team will receive a cash prize of ₹51,000, while the runner-up and standout players will be honored with trophies and certificates.
