Charanjot Singh Nanda, the newly elected National President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) during his maiden visit to Chandigarh after resuming his office expressed strong confidence in the resilience and stability of the Indian economy.
Addressing the members during a session organized by the ICAI, Chandigarh branch at Hotel Shivalikview, Nanda lauded the country’s robust economic fundamentals, stating that India is well-equipped to navigate any potential crisis arising from the ongoing Indo-Pak tensions. He emphasized that sound fiscal management, strengthened institutions, and sustained economic reforms have positioned the nation to absorb external shocks without compromising its long-term growth trajectory. Reaffirming ICAI’s commitment to national service, he also highlighted the critical role Chartered Accountants play in safeguarding economic stability during challenging time.
Reassuring students and stakeholders alike, President Nanda made it unequivocally clear that there will be no change in the schedule of the upcoming Chartered Accountancy examinations. He stated that the ICAI is fully prepared to conduct the exams as planned, with all necessary precautions in place to ensure the safety and convenience of candidates.
He also emphasized that there is absolutely no need to panic or resort to hoarding. India’s supply chains and financial systems are stable, and the government is fully prepared to manage the situation.
Meanwhile, during the session he also highlight ICAI’s strategic roadmap aligned with the Government of India’s vision of making India a developed nation by 2047. In his address, CA Nanda emphasized the pivotal role of youth, capital markets, and financial literacy in driving India’s economic transformation toward becoming a $5-trillion economy.
ICAI’s initiatives, including new certificate courses and financial literacy drives in collaboration with government platforms and IEPFA, aim to deepen public awareness and ethical investing. He also reaffirmed ICAI’s humanitarian commitment through the Chartered Accountants Benevolent Fund.\
Calling Chartered Accountants the “custodians of financial integrity,” CA Nanda urged the profession to lead India’s economic and ethical transformation with unity and vision.
