Chandigarh,  All eyes will be on the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium as hosts Chandigarh take on Punjab in a crucial Ranji Trophy encounter starting from Saturday. Both teams are eager to notch their first win of the season by setting the stage for an intense North Zone clash.

For Chandigarh, it’s been a mixed campaign so far. Manan Vohra led UT team suffered defeats against Goa and Maharashtra before managing a hard-fought draw against Madhya Pradesh. The team has made a few key changes in the lineup. Amrit Lubana, Gaurav Puri and Anirudh Kanwar are in the place of Kunal Mahajan, Abhishek Saini and Raman Bishnoi. The reshuffle is aimed at bolstering both batting stability and bowling depth as the team seeks momentum on home turf.

Punjab, on the other hand, have displayed magnificent shows but are yet to find a winning rhythm. With five points from three consecutive draws against Goa, Kerala and Madhya Pradesh, the side will be keen to convert consistency into victory.

BDT  tournament : Chandigarh B steady at 265/8 against Tripura on day One

Chandigarh, Chandigarh B finished Day one at 265/8 in their first innings against Tripura in the ongoing 5th Balramji Dass Tandon Under 16 Multi Days tournament being played at SSCA-32 Cricket Academy, Kandala on Friday. Skipper and wicketkeeper Adhiraaj Kurl led from the front with a fluent 90 studded with 12 boundaries and a six. For Tripura, Chandrasnata Goswami was the pick of the bowlers by claiming 4 for 60.  Meanwhile at Aman Cricket Acedemy, Punjab ended day one at 313/9 with fine contribution from vikas Khatri (75) and unbeaten Harjagteshwar Singh Khaira (72) against Himachal Pradesh. Prince Surender (4/92) was the pick of the bowlers from the bowling side. In the third fixture of the day, Jammu and Kashmir posted a competitive 322 in their first innings against Chandigarh A at Rana Green Field. Hadi Amin starred with a fine 153. For Chandigarh, Kanha Rathore (4/70) and Agamveer Singh (3/49) bowled impressively. In reply, Chandigarh A reached 29 without loss at stumps. .
