Session on Instilling Soft Skills & Road Safety organized at CII Chandigarh

CII organized a Session on Instilling Soft Skills and Road Safety at its Northern Region Headquarters, Chandigarh, today in collaboration with Radisson Hotel Group and Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India. The objective of the same was to highlight and emphasize on the importance of taking measures on Road Safety and to educate the target group of drivers to inculcate safe driving habits. It also aimed to create awareness about their individual physical & mental fitness and to inculcate basic soft skills to establish better service standards for their customers.

Mr Jaswinder Singh, DSP – Traffic, Chandigarh was the key speaker at the session who educated the attendees about the recent developments in the  Motor Vehicle Act, Traffic Rules, Common mistakes while driving, Meaning of sign boards on road and many more crucial touch points. He urged the participants to adhere to the traffic rules and drive with utmost caution to ensure minimum loss to life and property.

It was also deliberated that approximately 1.4 lakh lives were lost last year, merely due to road accidents. Such mis-happenings also add to fiscal losses and impact the GDP of the nation.

Expressing his views upon the contemporary taxi services, Mr Manmohan Kohli, Co- Chairman, CII NR Committee on Tourism & Hospitality and CEO – Aroma Group said “Whenever we recall our cab visit, we tend to remember our interaction with and the service quality of our driver. He acts as the first point contact and hence play a vital role in the entire trade eco-system.”

Mr Supriyo Ghoshal, GM (Lubes), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, Punjab State Office, Chandigarh also graced the occasion and opined that Chandigarh has perhaps the best traffic management in entire country and people too have a good traffic sense. He also motivated the attendees to ensure their contribution to road safety in the city and maintain quality services.

Taxi operations are on the rise and have become a critical part of public transport. It is vital to not only ensure a safe, comfortable and quality ride for the public while taking care of the needs of women, elderly and differently abled, but also to make sure that drivers are treated with equal respect and dignity.

The session was well attended by around 150 participants.
