
Haryana Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini said that the Shaheedi Smarak’ dedicated to the ‘First War of Independence’ being built in Ambala Cantonment will stand as an extraordinary symbol of patriotism, valour, and sacrifice.
He said that Samarak will not only preserve India’s historical heritage but will also serve as a powerful source of inspiration for future generations, especially the youth.
The Chief Minister was inspecting the under-construction site of the Samarak in Ambala Cantonment on Thursday. The Samarak is in its final stages of completion. Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij, senior officers of the state government, historians, design experts, and officers of the concerned departments were also present on the occasion.
A tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives – Chief Minister
During the detailed inspection, the Chief Minister appreciated the quality of construction, historical representation, and integration of modern technology. He said that the Samarak would be a true tribute to the brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives for India’s freedom. He said that this Samarak will inspire the youth with patriotism, sacrifice, and dedication to the nation.
Nayab Singh Saini said that Haryana has always been a land of brave warriors and martyrs, and the state government is continuously working to preserve the memories of freedom fighters and national heroes. He said that the Samarak will be a unique blend of modern technology, historical facts, and grand architecture, making it a major attraction for tourists and researchers from across the world.
Directions issued to complete remaining work promptly
During the visit, the Chief Minister directed officers to complete the remaining minor works of the Samarak on a priority basis. He stressed that authenticity of historical facts and quality of presentation must be ensured in every section so that visitors can experience the true glory of India’s freedom struggle.
A national centre of patriotic consciousness – Chief Minister
The Chief Minister said that the Samarak is not just a structure but a national centre of patriotic consciousness that will keep the spirit of nationalism alive. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi, several efforts are being made across the country under the “Azadi Ka Amrit Kaal” to highlight the contributions of freedom fighters for the younger generation, and this Samarak will be an important link in that direction.
Appreciation for Energy Minister
The Chief Minister appreciated the efforts of the Energy Minister, Anil Vij for this ambitious project and said that due to his guidance and keen interest, the Smarak is being developed into a grand and historic structure. He expressed confidence that the Smarak will emerge as a major centre of national pride and further strengthen the spirit of patriotism.
First of its kind Samarak based on 1857 revolution – Anil Vij
Energy, Transport and Labour Minister, Anil Vij, while inspecting the Samarak site, briefed the Chief Minister about various arrangements, technical features, and construction progress. He said that this Samarak based on the 1857 revolution is the first of its kind in the country, showcasing the heroic tales, battles, and sacrifices of the freedom struggle through modern technology.
Anil Vij said that special emphasis has been given to the contributions of unsung heroes and revolutionaries of 1857 so that citizens can connect with India’s glorious past. He added that the Samarak would soon be inaugurated, and therefore all preparations should be completed in a time-bound and quality manner.
He further said that the Samarak will serve as an important centre of knowledge for students and researchers, and educational institutions should prioritize visits for students to help them understand the legacy of freedom struggle, patriotism, and sacrifice.
He also said that the Samarak is being constructed to pay true tribute to the unsung heroes of the freedom movement and to immortalize their contribution.
The Chief Minister and Energy Minister also visited various galleries and the auditorium inside theSamarak. They watched and appreciated a short documentary on the 1857 uprising along with senior officers and attendees. On this occasion, both leaders also planted a Rudraksha sapling in the premises of the Smarak.

Haryana Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, while interacting with people during the Jan Samvad programme organised at Shivala Ramkundi in Ladwa, district Kurukshetra, on Thursday, said that strict action will be taken against the SDO who got electricity poles and a transformer installed in the middle of a farm pathway in village Bakali. He said the matter would be investigated by the SDM, Ladwa. Former Minister of State, Subhash Sudha was also present on the occasion. During the programme, the Chief Minister heard 338 grievances.
The Chief Minister also directed the police to register a case against those allegedly threatening the complainant. He further said that strict action will be taken against officers and employees who make the general public visit government officers repeatedly to get their work done. The government’s objective is to ensure holistic development of the state and to make sure that the benefits of welfare schemes reach every eligible citizen, said Sh. Nayab Singh Saini.
While interacting with citizens, the Chief Minister urged people to mention their mobile numbers on complaint applications so that departments can contact them directly regarding grievance redressal.
The Chief Minister said that the Jan Samvad platform reflects the government’s commitment towards continuous development, public welfare and a brighter future for the region. He said the development works carried out in Ladwa Assembly constituency over the years clearly show that both the ‘Niti and Niyat’ of the government are dedicated to public welfare. The government’s only objective is to ensure the development of the region and the upliftment of every citizen. He further directed officers and employees to ensure timely disposal of complaints and warned that citizens should not be made to visit offices repeatedly for the same issue.
During the programme, a complainant informed the Chief Minister that he had purchased nearly seven acres of land in village Bakali several years ago and the pathway to the fields was part of the ownership record. However, some persons allegedly connived with the SDO and got electricity poles and a transformer installed on the pathway leading to his fields. The complainant also alleged that he was receiving threats. Taking serious note of the matter, the Chief Minister directed officers to initiate strict action.
Hearing a grievance raised by Jasbir Singh of Dhanora Jattan village, the Chief Minister said that after examining feasibility, steps would be taken to upgrade the school up to Class XII. Similarly, acting on a complaint submitted by Naresh Pal, he directed the Marketing Board to complete the road between Khirki Viran and Rudki village before the onset of the monsoon season so that residents of nearly six villages do not face inconvenience. He also directed the officers of the PWD Department to complete the construction of the road in village Kanipla before the rainy season.
The Chief Minister directed the officers of the Education Department to complete the online name correction process at the earliest and ensure admission of a child in a private school under the Right to Education (RTE) provisions. He also directed the officers of the Electricity Department to immediately replace the transformer installed in the fields of Balvinder Singh, a resident of village Kalirano. Besides this, directions were issued to install a new transformer in place of the transformer stolen from the fields of Bhagat Singh of Muniyarpur village.
SDM office being constructed at a cost of Rs 16.20 crore
The Chief Minister said drinking water pipelines have been laid in 65 villages of the Assembly constituency at a cost of Rs 11.51 crore. In Ladwa town, the Saharanpur-Kurukshetra road has been widened into a four-lane road at a cost of Rs 10.20 crore. He further said that the SDM office building is being constructed at a cost of Rs 16.20 crore. Under CM announcements, the Municipal Committee, Ladwa, has been allotted Rs 16.37 crore for various development works, out of which Rs 7.52 crore has already been spent, while the remaining works are in progress. Development works worth Rs 2.46 crore have also been carried out under the Divya Nagar Scheme.
364 houses constructed under PM Awas Yojana
The Chief Minister said that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, 364 houses have been constructed, while construction of 249 houses is currently underway. Under the Har Ghar Grihini Yojana, 9,240 families are being provided LPG cylinders at a subsidised rate of Rs 500. Under the Ayushman Chirayu Yojana, around 1.59 lakh people have been found eligible, out of which 1.20 lakh beneficiaries have already received their Chirayu cards.
To improve public convenience, permanent bridges are being constructed at three locations over the Rakshi river at a cost of Rs 1 crore 35 lakh 72 thousand. In addition, a 2,200-foot-long RCC track project on the same river has been approved at a cost of Rs 3 crore 12 lakh 25 thousand. He said these projects would not only improve connectivity but also strengthen irrigation facilities, thereby increasing agricultural production and enhancing farmers’ income.
Work on 38 out of 74 CM announcements Completed
The Chief Minister said the government has carried out unprecedented development works in Ladwa in sectors such as infrastructure, social harmony, irrigation, health, animal husbandry, sports, environmental conservation and urban amenities. He said 74 CM announcements were made for the development of the Ladwa Assembly constituency, out of which work on 38 projects has already been completed, while work on the remaining projects is underway.
Highlighting the government’s development initiatives, he said Rs 807 crore have been spent on development works in the Ladwa Assembly constituency during the last 11-and-a-half years, compared to only Rs 310 crore spent during the previous Congress government’s ten-year tenure. A sewage treatment plant and sewerage network have also been established in Ladwa town at a cost of Rs 26 crore.
Deputy Commissioner, Vishram Kumar Meena welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries on the occasion, while BJP District President, sh. Tijender Singh Goldy expressed gratitude to the guests at the conclusion of the programme.
Special monthly Melas to be organised for marketing products of Self-Help Groups and FPOs – C.G.Rajini Kaanthan
The Commissioner and Secretary, Finance Department, C.G.Rajini Kaanthan said that in a major initiative towards strengthening the rural economy and making women self-reliant, the Government is going to take a significant step.
Under this initiative, special one-day sale drives and fairs will be organised every month at suitable locations at all district headquarters across Haryana for the direct sale of products of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) supported by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).
The Commissioner and Secretary was reviewing this action plan during a meeting held on Thursday through video conferencing. A detailed framework regarding the implementation of these schemes in the districts was presented by the district administrations. He stated that in line with the vision of the Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, this initiative will prove to be a milestone in transforming the economic empowerment of rural communities, especially in creating a sustainable and robust livelihood model for women.
He further informed that NABARD has been a strong partner in the development of Haryana for the past four decades. Under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF), the state has received financial assistance of approximately Rs. 7,840 crore over the last five years alone. In addition, grant assistance of more than Rs. 14.64 crore has been provided for skill development, marketing, exhibitions, and support for Geographical Indication (GI) initiatives in rural areas.
He said that the main objective of this campaign is to address the key challenges faced by members of SHGs and FPOs. The district administration has been directed to ensure complete preparedness for the effective implementation of this public welfare initiative on the ground.
He further directed that suitable and high-footfall locations be identified at the district level so that maximum public participation can be ensured and rural artisans and farmers get better market access for their products.
He added that for the smooth implementation of the entire system, the District Development Manager of NABARD has been designated as the nodal officer in each district, who will coordinate with the district administration and manage all logistical arrangements for each event.
He also appealed to citizens to participate in these monthly fairs and purchase local products, thereby contributing meaningfully to strengthening rural livelihoods.

Minister takes strict stand during review meeting of Public Works Department
No compromise on quality; action will be taken against agencies causing delays
Haryana Public Works and Public Health Engineering Minister, Ranbir Gangwa said that road repair work, pothole filling and all pending works must be completed before the coming monsoon season so that people get relief and roads remain safe for travel.
Ranbir Gangwa was chairing a high-level review meeting of the Public Works Department (Buildings and Roads) here today.
During the meeting, a detailed review was conducted regarding the work programme for 2024-25 and 2025-26, road and bridge projects, quality control, the “Mhari Sadak” app and the progress of various development works. The Minister took district-wise reports from all officers.
During the meeting, the Minister directed officers to speed up works that are progressing slowly. He said that the full use of the budget allocated for the current financial year should be ensured, as delays in development works not only affect projects but also increase financial burden on the government.
Public Works Minister, Ranbir Gangwa said that electricity poles and poles of other departments located in the middle or on the sides of roads at many places are becoming the cause of accidents. He directed officers to coordinate with the concerned departments and get such poles removed or shifted on priority to ensure public safety.
While reviewing complaints received through the “Mhari Sadak” app, he said that public grievances should not remain limited to files only, but results should also be visible on the ground. He directed officers to ensure timely resolution of complaints.
A special review was also conducted of road and bridge projects costing more than Rs. 20 crore. The Minister directed officers and concerned agencies to regularly monitor major projects and complete them within the fixed time limit. The progress of HARSAC projects Ranbir Gangwa said that quality should be given top priority and no negligence in construction works will be tolerated. He directed that construction material should be regularly tested in departmental laboratories and said that materials including bitumen should be used only after quality testing. He warned that strict action would be taken against concerned officers and agencies if any deficiency in quality is found.
He also directed officers to inspect roads and plants every month and send reports to the headquarters. Along with this, action should be taken as per rules against agencies causing delays in works.
The Public Works Minister said that officers and employees should work with full responsibility and honesty. He warned that strict action would be taken against officers and employees found negligent, absent from field duty or careless in their work. He also directed that suggestions and instructions given by public representatives should be taken seriously, as they are directly connected with the public and are well aware of ground-level issues.
Additional Chief Secretary, Public Works Department, Hitesh Kumar Meena, Engineer-in-Chief, Yogesh Mehra and other engineers were present during the meeting. Superintending Engineers, SDOs and JEs from all districts also joined virtually.

ECI announces launch of SIR of Electoral Rolls from June 15 for Haryana
Door-to-door enumeration underway across Haryana; BLOs directed to ensure voter verification, new enrolments, and correction of electoral data under ECI guidelines
Haryana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), A. Sreenivas, said that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued the schedule for conducting the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The SIR of electoral rolls is set to commence from June 15 to July 14, 2026, and the final publication of the electoral roll will be on September 22, 2026.
A. Sreenivas was addressing a press conference at the New Haryana Civil Secretariat, Sector-17, Chandigarh, today.
He said that in cases where Enumeration Forms have not been returned, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) may identify probable reasons such as “Absent”, “Shifted”, “Dead”, or “Duplicate” after making inquiries from neighbouring residents and record the same accordingly. BLOs have been directed to visit each such household at least three times for the collection of Enumeration Forms.
He said that booth-wise lists of electors whose names are not included in the Draft Roll will be displayed on the notice boards of Electoral Registration officer, Panchayat Bhawans, Urban Local Body offices, and the offices of Block Development and Panchayat Officers to ensure public access to voter lists along with the probable reasons for non-inclusion.
The Commission has directed all Chief Electoral Officers to consolidate these lists and upload them on the CEO’s website in an accessible format, along with similar lists on the websites of respective District Election Officers (DEOs).
During the house-to-house enumeration process, BLOs have been directed to carry at least 30–40 blank Form-6 applications along with blank Declaration Forms (Annexure-IV) to facilitate enrolment of new electors. The CEO urged political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) 1 and 2. So far, the CEO’s office has received details of 14,520 BLAs, including 6,438 from BJP, 7,704 from INC, 165 from CPI(M), and the remaining from other political parties. BLAs may also collect Enumeration Forms from voters and submit them to BLOs.
Replying to a question, Sreenivas said that the last Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Haryana was conducted in 2002. Enumeration Forms can be downloaded from the official website from June 15, 2026 onwards. He also informed that a dedicated helpline number, 1950, has been established in all district headquarters and constituencies. The helpline will function in two shifts from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
He further clarified that if a voter is not present during the house-to-house survey, any adult family member may sign Enumeration Form and submit the form to the BLO.
The CEO said that Haryana has approximately 18 percent logical errors in electoral data, including incorrect names and spelling mistakes, compared to other states. As of May 21, 2026, the total number of registered electors in Haryana stands at 2,06,52,760, while the total number of polling stations is 20,629.
He informed that electoral mapping of 1,32,51,717 electors has been completed so far, accounting for 64.16 percent of the total electorate. Fatehabad leads with 86.56 percent mapping, followed by Charkhi Dadri 82.36 percent, Sirsa 80.82 percent, Kaithal 78.59 percent, Mahendragarh 77.20 percent, Nuh 77.01 percent, Bhiwani 76.61 percent, Yamunanagar 75.81 percent, Rewari 74.98 percent, Hisar 73.82 percent, and Jind 71.93 percent.
Similarly, Kurukshetra has achieved 69.71 percent mapping, Karnal 68.13 percent, Palwal 67.04 percent, Jhajjar 64.07 percent, Ambala 63.45 percent, Rohtak 59.72 percent, Panipat 58.88 percent, Sonipat 58.39 percent, Panchkula 51.20 percent, Gurugram 35.06 percent, and Faridabad 29.66 percent.
Sreenivas said that all Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Election Officers have been directed to ensure access of BLOs in high-rise and gated societies, particularly in Faridabad, Gurugram, Sonipat, and Panchkula.
He reiterated that there would be no undue pressure on officials engaged in SIR work and that the exercise would be conducted smoothly. As per ECI instructions issued to the Chief Secretaries of states, no post notified as District Election Officer (DEO), Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) shall remain vacant. Further, no official associated with the SIR exercise shall be transferred without prior approval of the Commission.
