Chandigarh, A brilliant all-round performance by Shiva powered Team No. 212 to a convincing win over Team No. 202 in the pre-quarterfinals of the ongoing Gully Cricket Tournament, jointly organised by the UT Cricket Association and Chandigarh Police at GMSSS-44 on Tuesday. Batting first, Team No. 202 were bundled out for just 62 runs wherein Shiva claimed three crucial wickets. In reply, Team No. 212 chased down the target comfortably in just 5.1 overs with a quickfire 21 off 10 balls by Shiva.
Meanwhile, in other matches of the day, Team No. 8 defeated Team No. 23 by 7 wickets, Team No. 55 edged past Team No. 33 by 2 runs, Team No. 93 beat Team No. 74 by 5 wickets, Team No. 101 overcame Team No. 119 by 7 wickets, Team No. 159 defeated Team No. 131 by 3 wickets, Team No. 163 registered a win over Team No. 192 via the DLS method in a reduced 7-over match and Team No. 256 dominated Team No. 238 by 59 runs.
In the girls’ quarterfinals, Team No. 14 defeated Team No. 12 by 8 runs, while Team No. 1 secured a comprehensive 40-run victory over Team No. 8.
Meanwhile, at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium, trials for the Under-19 boys were conducted. Trials for the women’s Under-23 and senior categories were also held successfully
