He informed that these idols of Ganesh ji are being made near Ganga Nursery under the Zirakpur bridge. He added that all the artisans are working till two o’clock in the night so that the work can be completed on time. Phoolchand said that people are coming from Himachal, Haryana and Jammu to collect the idols of Ganpati from him. They are taking away the idols that have been prepared.

“Earlier Ganpati idols were being made with non-biodegradable Plaster of Paris which created environmental problems during ‘visarjan’. We now make only earthen Ganpati idols with pure clay. This clay has a property of ‘easy -dissolution’ when immersed in water. The idol can be immersed in a home tub and dissolves within an hour and later the clay can be used in kitchen gardens and even in flower pots,” concluded Phoolchand.
