The Punjab Government led by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stands fully committed to protect the assets of the Forest and Wildlife Preservation Department and is taking all possible steps to prevent illegal hunting in the hilly regions. This was disclosed by the Forest and Wildlife Preservation Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak during a meeting with the PFS Officers Association at the forest complex in Sector-68, Mohali.
 
Taking up another significant issue flagged by the Members of the association, the Minister directed that promotion matters should be speedily disposed off and not kept pending. The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) has given approval for the recruitment of the Forest Rangers, divulged the Minister. 
 
Divulging further, the Minister said that the matter pertaining to the confirmation of the PFS Officers promoted from the Forest Rangers, has been sent to the PPSC and is under consideration. Furthermore, the case of the reinstatement of the officers/employees placed under suspension during previous period is also being actively considered.

The Minister also emphasized that compliance must be ensured regarding the order of the department that stipulates wearing of uniforms by the employees. He also added that the 185 Forest Guards would be given appointment letters soon.
 
Among others present on the occasion included the Financial Commissioner (Forests) Vikas Garg and PCCF R.K. Mishra.
