Chandigarh, In order to make cricket more popular in all age groups, UT Cricket Association (UTCA) is organizing Chandigarh Premier League (CPL) in the month of February. In a meeting chaired by UTCA’s President Sanjay Tandon, the core committee has also prepared its blueprint. The league will be played between six teams from February 7 – 23. Only registered players of UTCA are eligible to participate in this league. Due to renovation in 16 cricket stadium, all the matches of the league will be held at Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Panchkula. Corporates or industrialists can bid for the ownership of the team for each franchise. Tandon said that this league will not only promote cricket at the grassroots level but will also create bench strength for the teams in various formats. UT Colts qualifies for knockout round of VMT despite draw against HP
Chandigarh, Despite a draw between Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh at the concluded Vijay Merchant Trophy held at Shimoga (Karnataka) on Monday, UT colts managed to make it to the knockout round. HP scored 282 runs in reply to Chandigarh’s 338/5. Akul Bhanot (154) and Anurag Budhwar (125) scored centuries for Chandigarh while Adil Rana (116) scored a century for HP. Parth (5/54) was the most successful bowler for the UT side. Chandigarh scored 231/3 in the second innings which was well supported by half-centuries from Yashjit Singh (69) and Anurag Budhwar (50). The team posted a target of 288 and in reply HP managed 164/1 which ended in a draw.
With the draw, UT colts who were in third spot, jumped to second place. While Chhattisgarh slipped down after losing to Delhi by nine wickets. Punjab has become the first team to reach the knockout round in the pool by registering two wins in the tournament. Chandigarh also qualified with one win and four draws.

Kashvee also selected for Challengers Trophy
Chandigarh, UT’s Kashvee Gautam has been selected for the Women’s Seniors One Day Challengers Trophy starting at Chennai from January 5. She will represent Team C. Earlier, Nandini Sharma and Shivangi Yadav have also been selected for the same tournament from UTCA.

Vijay Hazare Trophy: UP beat Chandigarh by four wickets
Chandigarh, UT boys faced yet another defeat from UP by four wickets at the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy being played at Vijayanagaram (Andhra Pradesh), UP invited Chandigarh to ba first as team collapsed at 271 runs in the 50th over wherein Shivam Bhambri (63) was the top skipper. Captain Manan Vohra added 44 while Raj Angad Bawa and Ankit Kaushik contributed 36 runs each. Shivam Mavi (4/45) took the maximum four wickets for UP. In reply, the centurion Aryan Juyal (116) steered his team to win the match at the loss of six wickets in 47th over. Abhishek Goswami (50) scored a half-century.
