UTCA distributes Cricket and Medical Kits to promote year-round Gully Cricket

Chandigarh, Aligned with its commitment to nurture grassroots cricket, the UT Cricket Association (UTCA) organised a cricket and medical kit distribution programme at the Sector 34 Police Station in collaboration with its partner Chandigarh Police.

As part of the initiative, five teams – teams no. 179,182,186,187 and192 which participated in the previous edition of the UTCA Gully Cricket Tournament were provided with cricket kits to encourage them to continue practising and playing throughout the year. Each team received one complete cricket kit while every player was presented with an individual medical kit to promote health and safety during sporting activities.

In a special gesture to encourage women’s participation in cricket, the girls’ side, Team No. 24 was also presented with a cricket kit while the players were presented with medical kits and hygiene kits.

The distribution programme was attended by Ravinder Billa, Co-Chairman, UTCA Gully Cricket Tournament; SHO Shaadi Lal of Sector 34 Police Station and Liaison Officer Kuljeet Kaur who encouraged the young cricketers to remain committed to the sport and make the best use of the equipment provided.

Saraansh Tandon, President, UT Cricket Association  said that the initiative reflects UTCA’s vision of sustaining the momentum of gully cricket beyond the tournament and providing aspiring cricketers with the resources needed to continue honing their skills.He said a total of 128 kits to boys and 32 kits to girls will be provided under this campaign.
