UTCA President Sanjay Tandon Inducted in Governing Council of WPL

Chandigarh, In a significant recognition for Chandigarh cricket, Sanjay Tandon, President of the UT Cricket Association (UTCA) has been inducted in the Governing Council of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Mumbai on Sunday. The Governing Council consists of newly elected President of BCCI Mithun Manhas and other functionaries Rajeev Shukla, Devajit Saikia, Prabhtej Bhatia, IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal and others.

This induction marks a new chapter in Tandon’s ongoing efforts to promote cricket in the region  Under his leadership, UTCA has consistently emphasized equal opportunities for budding women cricketers through structured training, infrastructure support, and competitive exposure. His initiative Gully Cricket, a case study for the BCCI and other state associations is aimed at promoting cricket at the grassroots level while aligning with social causes and has also created opportunities for budding girl cricketers.

Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Tandon said that he is deeply honored by Jay Shah and BCCI for assigning this responsibility to him.. He said the nation has embraced the philosophy of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ and  the time has come to expand this vision to ‘Beti Khilao’. He affirmed that through the WPL, the BCCI is creating a pathway for our daughters to dream big, play with pride and make India shine on the global stage.
