The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued guidance to the Punjab Government, urging them to uphold law and order amidst the farmers’ planned march towards Delhi.

This move came after the farmers declined the government’s offer to procure pulses, maize, and cotton crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP) for five years through government channels.

The MHA took action following reports of over 14,000 individuals gathering along the Punjab-Haryana border with a significant number of vehicles. They expressed concern to the Punjab Government regarding the escalating lawlessness in the state, urging them to crack down on potential troublemakers disguising themselves as farmers.

Simultaneously, Delhi Police intensified security measures at key border points in anticipation of the continuation of the farmers’ protest. Despite the government’s proposal to purchase certain crops at MSP for an extended period, farmer leaders rejected the offer during talks, citing it as unfavorable to their interests.

In a related development, Haryana Police warned excavator owners to remove their equipment from the protest site, stating they would face consequences if they failed to comply.
