
Nikhil Thakur played a composed unbeaten knock of 69 runs as HIIMS Hawks registered a convincing six-wicket victory over Royal Titans in the OMAXE Chandigarh Premier League at Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Panchkula on Sunday.
After electing to bat first, Royal Titans posted 159 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs. Sanchit Sahu top-scored with 49 runs off 37 balls while Sohail Khan contributed a brisk 35 off 23 deliveries. Amrit Lal Lubana added 19 runs. HIIMS Hawks bowlers put up a disciplined performance with Manhar Bawa (4/35) emerging as the standout performer.
In reply, HIIMS Hawks chased down the target comfortably by reaching 165 for 4 in 18.2 overs. Nikhil Thakur anchored the innings with an unbeaten 69 off 49 balls by hitting six boundaries and two sixes. Captain Manan Vohra provided a strong start with 33 runs,while Kartik Vardhan contributed 28 runs. Nipunn Sharda finished the chase in style with an unbeaten 19 off just six balls.

Earlier, on Saturday’s night, Capital Strikers produced a dominant performance to register a convincing nine-wicket victory over Tricity Bashers. Batting first, Tricity Bashers struggled to build momentum and managed only 130 for 5 in 20 overs. Ankit Kaushik top-scored with an unbeaten 59 while Hardik Chaudhary added 27 runs. Sahibjeet Singh starred with the ball by claiming three wickets.In reply, Capital Strikers reached the target at the loss of just one wicket in 13.4 overs. Gurtaj Singh smashed an unbeaten 71 off 41 balls while Nehal Pajni remained unbeaten on 56.
Meanwhile, On the occasion of International Yoga Day, players and officials of the Chandigarh Premier League enthusiastically observed the day by participating in a special yoga session at Tau Devi Lal Stadium. The session was conducted by noted Ayurveda pioneer Acharya Manish in the presence of UTCA founder president Sanjay Tandon.
Players from all four participating teams, along with match officials and members of the league management, took part in the session. Acharya Manish highlighted the numerous benefits of yoga, emphasizing its role in improving physical fitness, mental strength, concentration and overall well-being. He encouraged the players to incorporate yoga into their daily routines to enhance their sporting performance and maintain a balanced lifestyle.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Tandon underlined the importance of yoga in sports and praised the players for embracing the ancient Indian practice with great enthusiasm and discipline.
