H.E. Anil Sookpal, High Commissioner of South Africa to India, visited Chandigarh and held a meaningful interaction with Deepak Shukla, President of BRICS Chandigarh. During the meeting, discussions were held on exploring trade, investment and business opportunities between South Africa and the northern Indian states of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.
Both sides deliberated on strengthening cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, education and industry. Deepak Shukla highlighted the role of BRICS Chandigarh in connecting regional industries with international markets and promoting global partnerships.
He also informed that a business delegation from South Africa is scheduled to visit India on March 24. The delegation will meet the Chief Ministers of Himachal Pradesh and Haryana and will also interact with local industrialists to explore potential collaborations and investment opportunities.
The initiative is expected to further strengthen economic ties and open new avenues of cooperation between South Africa and the region.
