Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij said that a proposal has been moved forward from his side to provide 100 percent tax exemption on electric vehicles in Haryana on the lines of Chandigarh and Delhi, in order to encourage people to purchase electric vehicles. He said that if tax relief is provided on EVs, people’s inclination towards electric vehicles will increase rapidly.
Vij was responding to questions from media personnel today in Chandigarh before the Cabinet meeting.
He informed that the state government is going to purchase 500 electric buses. Apart from this, a file has also been sent from his side regarding tax exemption on the purchase of electric vehicles. The proposal has been prepared with the objective of granting 100 percent tax exemption on the lines of Chandigarh and Delhi, so that more and more people are encouraged to adopt electric vehicles.

Responding to a question regarding bringing this proposal before the Cabinet meeting, Vij said that the prerogative to place proposals in the Cabinet rests solely with the Chief Minister, and the decision regarding which proposal will be brought to the meeting is taken by him. He added that virtual meetings among departments are held regularly and many administrative works are also completed through telephone communication.
