Reinforcing its commitment to nurturing grassroots cricket beyond tournament season, the UT Cricket Association (UTCA) has launched a year-round initiative to support budding cricketers. As part of this effort, cricket and medical kits were distributed to young players during a programme held at Sarangpur Police Station, enabling them to continue practising and playing regularly.
Organised jointly by UTCA and the Chandigarh Police, the initiative benefited five teams that participated in the previous edition of the UTCA Gully Cricket Tournament. Each team received a cricket kit, while every player was also provided with a personal medical kit to ensure immediate first-aid support during practice sessions and matches.
The programme was attended by UTCA Gully Cricket Tournament Co-Chairman Ravinder Billa, SHO Ashok Kumar, MHC Naresh Kumar, Head Constable Sandeep, Lady Constable Anuradha and Constable Aman from Sarangpur Police Station.
UT Cricket Association President Saaransh Tandon said the initiative reflects UTCA’s vision of keeping gully cricket alive throughout the year while encouraging more youngsters to take up the sport. He said providing quality playing equipment to aspiring cricketers will help them sharpen their skills and prepare for higher levels of competition in the future.
