UTCA organised Blood Donation Camp to support national relief efforts amid escalation, 305 donated blood

In an expression of solidarity and service to the nation, , the UT Cricket Association (UTCA) organised a blood donation camp at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium, Chandigarh on Monday. The camp was held with a dual purpose to strengthen the national blood reserves and to support ongoing relief efforts amid rising border tension. The initiative was conducted in  light of the postponement of Gully Cricket and decided to organize a blood donation camp in collaboration with the Blood Bank, PGIMER and the Department of Blood Transfusion, GH-16. The camp witnessed overwhelming participation from not just cricketers and cricket administrators but also enthusiastic citizens from various walks of life which resulted in the collection of 305 units of blood. The donors were felicitated with certificates and token of gesture.

The Governor of Punjab and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria graced the occasion and interacted with the donors to boost their morale. He lauded that at a time when our brave soldiers stand guard at the nation’s borders, every citizen has a duty to serve in their own way. Blood donation is one such act of patriotism that can save lives and bring strength to our medical response.  He also announced that several more such camps will be organised across the city on May 15, reinforcing the mission to promote voluntary blood donation as a civic duty.

While thanking the donors on the behalf of the Indian Defence line,  UTCA President Sanjay Tandon said, “ As a sports body, we believe our responsibility extends beyond the field. This blood donation drive is a humble yet powerful way of standing with our armed forces and fellow citizens during these challenging times. It is our tribute to the spirit of Bharat.”

The event was attended by several dignitaries including R.K. Singh, IG Chandigarh Police; Kanwardeep Kaur, SSP Chandigarh and Saurabh Arora, Director Sports, UT, Jatinder Pal Malhotra, President, BJP, Chandigarh among others who appreciated the spirit of the initiative.
