The committee also approved forwarding the proposal to the Power Finance Corporation (PFC) and the Ministry of Power for consideration and approval by the Monitoring Committee under RDSS.
The decision comes at a time when Haryana’s power distribution companies have emerged among the country’s best-performing utilities, recording substantial reductions in line losses and significant improvements in operational efficiency. Haryana Health Institutions Directed to Launch Massive Plantation Drive Ahead of Monsoon
The Haryana Health Department has directed all Civil Surgeons and Principal Medical Officers (PMOs) across the state to undertake an extensive plantation drive ahead of the upcoming monsoon season.
Sharing this information, Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Sumita Misra, said that all government health institutions have been instructed to ensure large-scale plantation of suitable tree species to increase green cover and create healthier surroundings for patients, visitors and healthcare workers.
Dr. Misra said that with the arrival of the monsoon season, conditions become ideal for plantation activities due to higher survival rates of saplings. The department has therefore asked district health authorities to coordinate closely with local administrations and horticulture departments to carry out the plantation campaign in a planned manner.
She said that health institutions have been advised to prioritize the plantation of perennial indigenous varieties, including ornamental and shade bearing trees with dense canopy cover. Such species not only help improve the aesthetic appeal of hospital campuses but also contribute significantly to environmental conservation by reducing local temperatures, improving air quality and enhancing biodiversity.
According to the instructions issued by the Department, each district has been asked to ensure the plantation of at least 1,000 saplings of suitable species during the monsoon plantation drive. The initiative forms part of the state’s broader efforts to strengthen environmental stewardship and promote greener public institutions.
Dr. Misra said that increasing green cover around hospitals and healthcare facilities can have a positive impact on public health by creating cleaner and more comfortable environments. Trees help mitigate heat stress, provide shade and contribute to overall ecological balance, making healthcare campuses more patient-friendly.
The Additional Chief Secretary further stated that district authorities have been directed to accord top priority to the plantation programme and submit compliance reports upon completion of the drive. The Health Department will monitor implementation to ensure that plantation targets are achieved effectively across the state.

Haryana Asked to Furnish Data for New Online Government House Allotment Module
Chandigarh Administration Plans Digital System for Real-Time Updating of Seniority Records and Allotment Applications
Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi has directed all departments and concerned authorities to furnish information required for the development of a dedicated online module on the eAwas Portal for government accommodation allotment in Chandigarh.
The directions have been issued following a communication received from the House Allotment Committee (HAC), Chandigarh Administration, which is developing an online system for submission of applications and updation of seniority records under the Chandigarh Administration House Allotment Committee Rules, 1996.
The Chief Secretary’s Office has written to Administrative Secretaries, Heads of Departments, Haryana Public Service Commission, Haryana Staff Selection Commission, Haryana Vidhan Sabha, Haryana Police and other major offices, asking them to nominate nodal officers and furnish the requisite information within the stipulated time.
According to the communication from the House Allotment Committee, existing rules require eligible government employees to submit applications for allotment or change of government accommodation through the eAwas portal and also submit duly verified hard copies through the concerned department. Applications received up to the 20th of a month are considered for allotment during the following month, while incomplete or ineligible applications are liable to be rejected.
The House Allotment Committee has pointed out that, despite the introduction of the e-Office system, many applications continue to be forwarded without adherence to prescribed verification procedures. It has also observed that information regarding transfers and postings of officers and officials is not being updated regularly, resulting in several ineligible employees continuing to figure in seniority lists or occupying government accommodation even after becoming ineligible under the rules. Such cases may attract recovery of penal rent along with applicable interest.
To address these issues, the Chandigarh Administration has proposed the development of a comprehensive online module on the eAwas Portal. The proposed system will facilitate digitally verified online applications through Heads of Departments or Nodal Officers, real-time updation of transfer and posting details, identification of officers who cease to be eligible for government accommodation, automatic updation of seniority lists and a more transparent and time-bound allotment process.
For operationalisation of the module, departments have been asked to provide details of eligible offices, including the names and designations of Heads of Departments, office addresses, official email IDs registered with NIC, mobile numbers and Drawing and Disbursing Officer (DDO) codes. The information has been sought within seven days to enable the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Chandigarh, to initiate development and implementation of the portal.
Officials said the proposed online system is expected to improve transparency, ensure accurate maintenance of seniority records, facilitate timely verification of eligibility and streamline the process of allotment of government accommodation for eligible employees serving in Chandigarh.

Minister lays foundation stones for Development Projects worth over Rs. 16 crores in Maidawas and Dhumaspur
Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh said on Friday said that Gurugram is expected to witness significant relief from waterlogging during the upcoming monsoon season as corrective measures have been carried out at all 158 locations identified as vulnerable to flooding last year.
Addressing public gatherings after laying the foundation stones of various development projects worth over Rs. 16 crores in Maidawas and Dhumaspur villages under the Municipal Corporation area, Rao Narbir Singh said the Haryana government is fully committed to accelerating development works and ensuring that public welfare projects are implemented without any shortage of funds.
He said that there is no dearth of funds for public-interest works. People only need to bring forward proposals in accordance with prescribed norms and standards, and the government will leave no stone unturned in resolving their problems and executing development works, he said.
Rao Narbir Singh further said that under the leadership of Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, the state government’s Niti and Niyat are clear. He said that the Government’s sole objective is to ensure that the benefits of development schemes reach the last person in society.
Describing Gurugram as a rapidly developing city, Rao Narbir Singh said continuous efforts are being made to further strengthen its infrastructure. Referring to the recurring problem of waterlogging during the monsoon, he said 158 vulnerable locations were identified across the city last year.
He said that special drives were subsequently undertaken by the concerned departments at all these locations and necessary corrective measures were implemented.
Rao Narbir Singh said drainage systems have been strengthened, drains cleaned and other essential works carried out to improve the city’s preparedness for the rainy season. As a result, residents are expected to get considerable relief from waterlogging this year.
The Minister said development should not be viewed only in terms of roads, buildings and other infrastructure projects, adding that environmental conservation is equally important. With the monsoon season set to begin in the coming days, he urged every citizen to become part of plantation campaigns.
Highlighting the importance of increasing green cover, Rao Narbir Singh said approximately 14 trees are required to absorb the carbon dioxide emitted by an average individual each day. If society fails to take environmental protection seriously, future generations could face serious challenges, he cautioned.
He appealed to people to take a pledge to plant and nurture more trees at their homes, farms, institutions and public places. The need of the hour is to carry forward development and environmental conservation together, he said.
Gurugram Mayor, Smt. Raj Rani Malhotra, prominent citizens of the area, public representatives and officials from various departments were also present on the occasion.
