
The exhibition was inaugurated by C. G. Rajni Kaanthan, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Finance Department, Government of Haryana.
Visitors can explore traditional crafts such as Madhubani painting, Gond painting, Dokra art, cane and bamboo products, Phulkari, Pashmina and silk items, along with a variety of home furnishings and handcrafted artefacts. The exhibition also offers regional farm specialties including Pahadi Rajma, organic spices, pickles and dry fruits, sourced directly from rural producers.
In his address, C. G. Rajni Kaanthan, IAS, commended NABARD for organising the Grameen Bharat Mahotsav and for its continued efforts in strengthening the rural economy. He noted that such platforms provide valuable opportunities for rural artisans, Farmer Producer Companies and Self Help Groups to showcase their products and connect with wider markets. He added that initiatives like these promote rural entrepreneurship, empower women and youth, and contribute to creating sustainable livelihood opportunities.
Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Nivedita Tiwary, Chief General Manager, NABARD, Haryana Regional Office, Chandigarh, said:“Grameen Bharat Mahotsav is a vibrant platform celebrating the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of rural India. Through this initiative in Chandigarh, NABARD Haryana has brought together rural artisans and Farmer Producer Companies from nearly 20 States to showcase traditional crafts and quality farm products. The Mahotsav aims to provide market exposure, strengthen rural enterprises and promote sustainable livelihoods.”
The exhibition will remain open daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM and offers visitors an opportunity to experience the rich diversity of rural India. Visitors can also enjoy authentic culinary experiences, including millet-based dishes, Himachali Dham and traditional Himalayan cuisine.
NABARD invites the public to visit the exhibition, experience India’s vibrant rural heritage, and support artisans and women entrepreneurs by purchasing their handmade products.
