
Chandigarh, Opener Prithvi Shaw produced a magnificent double century to put Maharashtra in control against Chandigarh on Day three of their Ranji Trophy encounter being played at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium on Monday. Resuming from an overnight score of 66/0, Maharashtra declared their second innings at a commanding 359/3 in 52 overs, setting an massive target of 464 runs for the hosts.
After his cheap fall in the first innings, Shaw returned with renewed aggression by smashing 222 off just 156 balls studded with 29 boundaries and 5 sixes. The opener tore apart the UT bowling attack with a strike rate of over 140.
Shaw was well supported by Siddhesh Veer who scored a steady 62 off 83 balls with six fours and two sixes as the duo added a mammoth 197-run partnership for the second wicket. Earlier, Arshin Kulkarni contributed a useful 31 before falling to Jagjit Singh while skipper Ankit Bawne remained unbeaten on 1 alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad who scored run-a-ball 36.
Among the Chandigarh bowlers, Vishu Kashyap (1/80) and Arjun Azad (1/5) managed to pick up a wicket apiece while Jagjit Singh also struck early in the innings.
In reply, UT lads fought back and reached 129/1 at stumps. Opener Shivam Bhambri (3) was dismissed by Mukesh Choudhary while Arjun Azad (63) and skipper Manan Vohra (53) held the fort till the close of play.

Dushyant’s ton puts UT boys in command against Railways
Chandigarh, October 27: A fine century from Dushyant (103) helped Chandigarh gain a crucial 89-run first-innings lead over Railways on the third day of their Col C.K. Nayudu Trophy match being played at GMSSS Sector 26 Ground on Monday.
After restricting Railways to 172/8 (declared) in the first innings, Chandigarh replied strongly with 261 runs, thanks to Dushyant’s brilliant knock which was well supported by Aarush Bhandari who contributed a solid 76. For Railways, Dharmendra Thakur (3/33) and Jani Basha (3/47) shared three wickets each
In their second innings, Railways faced a fierce bowling attack led by Neel (2/13) and Paras (2/21), which left them struggling at 154/6 by stumps. Railways has now gained just 65 runs lead.
