Vij takes Strict action in Assault Case Involving Couple&Daughter-told SHO:Girls not feeling Safe in City is Unacceptable

Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister, Anil Vij, took strong cognizance of a case involving assault on a young woman and her parents in Ambala. While hearing public grievances, the Minister issued strict instructions to the SHO of Ambala Cantonment Police Station.

Expressing stern displeasure, Vij told the SHO:“I will not allow this to happen in my city. If girls cannot freely move around in the city, then it is shameful for both you and me.” The Minister directed the police to arrest the accused youths named in the FIR and take the strictest legal action against them.

Earlier, a couple residing in Housing Board Colony, Ambala Cantonment, submitted their complaint before the Minister. They reported that their daughter was returning from coaching classes last evening when two youths followed her and verbally abused her. The girl immediately called her parents for help. The victim’s father stated that he called Dial 112 and waited for the police. However, before the police arrived, the accused youths assaulted the family and injured them. Later, when they reached the Civil Hospital at night for medical assistance, about 15 youths gathered there and threatened to shoot them.
After hearing the complaint, Sh. Vij summoned the SHO on the spot and directed firm action. Police have registered the case and further investigation is underway.

During this today, Minister Vij also reddressed several other complaints related to electricity, physical assault, and civic issues. A woman from village Machchhonda complained about delays in her drinking water connection, and others raised issues including unpaid stipend despite completing apprenticeship in the Roadways workshop.
