Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister, Sh. Anil Vij has taken serious cognizance of the closure of the all-weather swimming pool at the War Heroes Memorial Stadium in Ambala Cantonment and has spoken to the Sports Minister about the matter. Today, children who use the swimming pool met with Energy Minister Anil Vij and complained about the pool being close. In response, Minister Vij immediately spoke with the state’s Sports Minister Gaurav Gautam. Speaking to media persons on the matter, Anil Vij said that “Some children came and informed that the international-standard all-weather swimming pool at War Heroes Memorial Stadium is not operational. He said I was the one who had the pool built, and I was shocked to hear that the children are not able to benefit from it and that it is closed.” Sh. Vij added that he spoke to the state’s Sports Minister Gaurav Gautam over the phone and told him that this is unacceptable. He asked the minister to take note of the issue and take action against the District Sports Officer (DSO) for the prolonged closure and the absence of a tender for its operation. Sh. Vij further stated that since it is not possible to process a tender in a short time, he requested the Sports Minister for the government to directly operate the swimming pool. Over the phone, Sports Minister Gaurav Gautam assured Energy Minister Anil Vij and said that “Vij Sahab, please inform the children that the swimming pool will be reopened this evening and the government will run it directly.” *All-Weather Swimming Pool Built Through the Efforts of Minister Anil Vij* It is worth noting that the international-standard all-weather swimming pool at War Heroes Memorial Stadium in Ambala Cantonment was constructed due to the efforts of Energy Minister Anil Vij. This swimming pool is equipped with modern facilities and can be used even in winter. A warm-up pool has also been built alongside. The pool has hosted Khelo India and other national-level competitions. However, its non-operation during this summer had disappointed the athletes, prompting Minister Anil Vij to take action.

Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister, Sh. Anil Vij announced that the National Highway Authority has commenced work on constructing a new service lane on the railway overbridge (ROB) in front of Shastri Colony, located along GT Road in Ambala Cantonment. This service lane is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 30 crore. Once completed, vehicle drivers will be able to cross the overbridge via the service lane without merging onto the main GT Road. Additionally, a new service lane will be built on the overbridge for vehicles traveling from Delhi to Ambala Cantonment, near the Padav Police Station. Sh. Vij held meeting with officials from the National Highway Authority regarding the project and instructed them to complete the work swiftly. He also directed that the connecting road coming from the Railway Colony under the ROB be constructed as per established standards. *New Service Lanes to Streamline Traffic Flow and Improve Connectivity* Sh. Vij explained that currently, the service lane from Delhi ends in front of Padav Police Station, after which vehicles must merge onto the GT Road to continue toward the bus stand. With the new construction, the service lane will extend beyond Padav Police Station and connect with the existing service lane section further ahead. Similarly, for vehicles traveling from Ambala Cantonment toward Delhi, the current service lane merges onto the GT Road. Now, a new lane will be constructed over the railway line, connecting with the service lane leading to Shastri Colony. Service lanes on both sides of GT Road will allow local vehicles to cross the railway overbridge without needing to drive on the main GT Road, easing congestion and improving safety. *Service Lane Being Constructed at a Cost of Rs. 30 Crore – Vij* Cabinet Minister Anil Vij stated that the National Highway Authority is constructing the service lane at a cost of approximately Rs.30 crore. Piling work has already commenced adjacent to the railway overbridge. The authority has set a timeline of around 1.5 years for completing the project. Vij emphasized that this new service lane will benefit thousands of residents of Ambala Cantonment by allowing seamless travel over the railway overbridge via the service lane itself. Areas expected to benefit include Chandpuri, Railway Colony, DRM Complex, Sundar Nagar, Machhauda, Shahpur, Ghasitpur, Sector residents, Vidya Nagar, Kuldeep Nagar, Nanheda, Rangia Mandi, Shastri Colony, and others. The lane will also provide a convenient route to and from the Shaheedi Smarak (Martyrs’ Memorial). On this occasion, NHAI Deputy Manager Vishal Kesrwani, site engineer Pulkit, BJP leader Kapil Vij and other officials.
