Ahead of the Trident Open at the Chandigarh Golf Club, professional golf coaches introduced members and youth to the game and provided valuable tips. This session was specially organized at the Chandigarh Golf Club. Derek Trofimczuk from USA and Gurkhi Shergill from India, interacted with youngsters on the course and provided tips. During the session, golfers were told that golf is not just a game of strength, but also of patience, concentration, and composure. They taught youngsters about swing technique, grip control, focus during putting, and discipline on the course. Derek Trofimczuk, a 32-year-old American coach, said that anyone can start the game at any age. Golfers can improve their technique through consistent practice and proper fitness. Youngsters were also encouraged to learn from small mistakes, analyze each shot, and avoid haste. Derek is from Fort Worth, Texas. He has played on the Mexican Professional Tour for the past two years and has also performed well on the China Tour. This is his first visit to India, and it was a memorable trip. He was a student at Santa Barbara University, where he played at the college level. Gurkhi Gill, 46, is from Pune. He has also won titles on the PGTI circuit, including the Tata Open in 2009. He is one of the top golf coaches in the country. He said that the young people in Chandigarh are very talented and grasp things very quickly. It was a pleasure working with them.

Haryana’s Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister, Sh. Anil Vij, today felicitated female boxer Harnur Kaur from Shahpur, Ambala Cantonment, for winning a silver medal in the boxing competition at the Youth Asian Games 2025 held in Bahrain. As a token of encouragement, the minister presented her with Rs.11,000 from his discretionary fund. Sh. Vij interacted with Harnur Kaur and extended his best wishes for her future endeavors. He said that the state government is providing various facilities to promote and support sportspersons. He further added that the sports infrastructure in Ambala Cantonment has been significantly strengthened, helping local athletes gain recognition at the global level. On this occasion, Harnur Kaur’s parents were also present, and Energy Minister Anil Vij congratulated them as well. It is noteworthy that Harnur Kaur participated in the Under-17 category during the competition.
